Got my email yesterday, I was in the 1700's. I opted to wait for v2 as they offered a $50 accessory credit for waiting.

Paul / TS / CS.....

All things being equal, as far as you know, how are things happening with the vendor for the parts for the "V2" Einsteins ?

At this stage, are things still on the original (about August 20th) schedule ?

Thanks,

AB.

As far as we know, all parts are on schedule, both in China and Nashville. We are progressing well on redesign and drafting of power supply board and have direct control of this. Our China metal/plastic vendor is extremely reliable in meeting his schedules.

We expect first samples in about 14 days, and his production is quite fast and responsive. But the ever present caveat is the possibility of a mistake on my part in the CAD work or in the mold makers part.

The new front end assembly is die cast zinc alloy and involves three molds and two die cut pieces. I have stressed the importance of accuracy and lack of burrs and mold flash, etc. Should there be a problem with the initial samples, the molds aren't too difficult or time consuming to rework, but should this happen it could potentially set us back a couple of weeks. These are things no human can 100% predict and I am 100% human.

But I can predict with good certainty these changes will correct all issues.

Somehow my "end of August" became "Aug 20" Aug 20 is the target for having everything in place and ready to begin production, but the end of August has always been the realistic shipping target.

I can predict with 100% certainty that my better half would say that I am 99% meat and 1% head.

Just a heads-up..............

Lightingrumours.com is reporting .............

Quote:
Paul C Buff UK: the UK shipment has arrived and is shipping to customers - over 100 orders so far.

I'm thinking that as Paul said that all international units would be shipped as V2, and we're not expecting release of V2 until late this month, this rumour is *cough* less then correct ??

I did not see any reference on LR, but no, there are no E640's currently or recently having been shipped to AU or UK.

I see the twitter post about it, but it does not specify what arrived. We have shipped 220V bees, and Vagabonds, probably softboxes etc. Einsteins were not on that boat.
