Just order 2 einsteins and they can't get here soon enough. Estimated 1st of the year. So looks like I will be renting some lights over the Christmas holiday.

Were they using the temporary finger fix?

When I called to inquire about the order I placed just before the price increase on August 1st I was told my unit would be available to ship in about a week but it would still be without the finger fix. I was also informed that in about two to three weeks they will be receiving the parts to fix the finger problem. So any Einsteins currently going out are not the final version. I elected to wait the additional time for the fixed version.

I also opted to wait for the updated fingers. I was hoping to have my lights by Christmas by that is looking doubtful now.

Thanks for the update,

Jason

Just received my Einsteins and modifers from AU PCB..Wowzer... The quality is excellent, not had a single problem so far and the light quantity seems very consistent with the metering I have done so far.

Colin and Julie were awesome to deal with!

Wish I had ordered more.......

Got mine too and they are certainly promising without giving a proper going over yet.
Cyber Commander is a kick butt piece of gear making life very easy.

The only issue I have is the CST is one tight fit onto a hotshoe. Hope PCB consider a design change because it may be warranted.
Years ago, the Nikon F90x with SB26 flash fit tightly and caused cracking on many, many bodies because of the tight fit. It was a common problem with the F90x/SB26 combo.
Owning this combination of camera/flash myself and knowing how tight it is I can certainly guarantee the CST is an immensely tighter fit on a hotshoe. I've tried it on 4 seperate bodies.
I have a D3x for studio use and although it is solid not poly carb like the F90x, I sure don't like having to force and jiggle the thing into place every time.

Anyhow, apart from this for those holding back and freaking out over forums, my advice, don't read forums and just go get these lights!

I used a file on the foot of my 1st CC b/c it fit so tight in the D700's mount. Just go slow and stay away from the center of the foot.

Thanks, yep, already considered this. I'm thinking of trying a nail file and doing exactly what you said, "go slow."
I assume you meant CST as the Cyber Commander on the other hand has a much better foot imo and fits comfortably with more give in the contact.
On this note, the flashmeter appears very accurate. Up against my Gossen several tests showed almost identical results majority of the time. Fluctuations between the two were never more than 1/10th.

Glad I held out for these Einsteins. :)

It has got to be tough to accommodate a wide variety of hotshoes.... the CST is just right on my 5Dii. It is tight enough that I'm confident it won't fall off but not so tight that it is a problem.
