My Einsteins came in yesterday, 3/24/11. Have been testing them out. So far using a 10 + year old Minolta Flash meter, I've had consistant readings from -8f to full power on Action. Using the 8.5 " reflector, they were F2.0 + 2/10 through F32 + 2/10 @ 10 feet ISO 200. The meter was calibrated for my D200. Took some shots of my daughter at the exposures my meter gave, they were right on. This was direct flash. Next tested what I had available for freezing action. Shot my high speed fan. Was able to freeze the blades at -3f with slight edge movement on close inspection. Clearly froze at -4f. Next I will test on hummingbirds hovering at single feeder( one of the reasons I wanted these). Should be able to place lights 10 feet away, front and side, and shoot at F11. I will do this near sunset so the flashes will act as my shutter. If this works out as expected then I will be investing in a VM for out in the field shooting.
