Post subject:  Frequency keeps changing

I just received my Cyber Commander and CSRB+.

The receiver is hooked up to my Nikon SB600 Speedlight.

I have them both set to the same frequency and either the CC is not triggering the receiver or the receiver is not receiving the signal.

Once I have them both on and set to the same frequency, the metering/triggering works. Once I turn off the CC and back on, it stops working with the receiver. I have to change both the CC and receiver to a different frequency than before for them to work again.

How do I fix this?

BTW, how do I turn off the receiver plus when it is not in use?

Will the CC trigger from the camera when the screen is off? What about when the CC is turned back on? Has the channel been programed as a speedlite in the spec lights menu? Have yoou checked to make sure the flah has not gone into standby? How many times do you try to trigger before using the frequency change resolution?

The reciever turns off after an hour of non use.

I think I know what is happening and it is repeatable in my condition.

I have the speedlight configured as FLASH 2, nothing is in FLASH 1 yet. Once they are on the same frequency, the CC triggers the CSRB+ just fine. If I move left joystick to the left once (going back to FLASH 1) and then go back to FLASH 2, the triggering stops working. I will then have to set both the trigger and receiver to another frequency before it works again.

Ok, so when channel2 is selected, does the word "speedlight" appear in blue over the word "refresh" in the lower right?

Yes, it displays "speedlight".

At the bottom of the ch2 collumn, is the lowest dash white (matches the text "refresh") or is it gray (matches the lines in the graph)?

It matches the gray like the graph.

Ah, the reciever is set to standby. This is set in the "light settings" tab in the menu screen. I can give a full step by step when I get to a proper keyboard.

I checked the menu out and you are correct, it was set to standby.

What benefits would setting it to standby have when I am switching channels, which results in the receiver not getting triggered anymore?

What probably happened was there was a reminant setting from testing in the CC that had that channel set to standby, and it was always in standby rather than changing to standby when you changed channels. The fire signal and adjust signals are seperate from one another, and the reciver had not been given the standby signal that was stored in the CC. It heard "fire" and would fire. Once the channel changed, a "refresh" signal was given and the reciever went into standby, as commanded by the CC. Once you changed frequency, you got a "fresh slate" in the reciever, but the Commander still had the same settings, and the process repeated. Now that the channel is set to ON, it should not go back to standby until you direct it to.
