Hi
I own a few Einstein 640's. My older ones work fine , with vers 29 FW. New ones, with vers 30FW, have an issue with the modeling light "timing" out. The modeling light will shut off at a certain time. Fan never seems to come on strong .... internal temp Im assuming then doesn't get hot enough for fan to turn on. But modeling light seems to always turn off randomly , going to " no model light" mode on back of unit . ????

I have returned 2 units already with this problem... on third... same issue. Dont know if this is a feature of model light just timing out ???? I shoot all day every day in my studio . So lights are on most of the day . After about 45min , modeling light goes out and I have to reset. I relies that the point is that the temperature dictates the fan level... but im finding older version runs 10-30degC cooler then then lights with the new firmware . !

I want the old firmware back, (vs29) with fan on all of the time.... do not care about the noise of the fan..... most quality flash head have some fan noise any way. Used to it in my studio. Would rather run cool heads then silly time out modeling lights and no fan on.

please help me out here. Dont want to have to send another one back.
thanks

I can get v.29 to you if you really want it, however, I don't think it is a temp issue. Are you using CSXCV and Cyber Commander, or MC2's with a CTL remote (TT1 or TT5)? If so, then I suspect it is a setting in whatever you are using as a transmitter.

On a CC, you should have a red dash in the column for the light, if not, then the model lamp is turned off in the CC and needs to be set accordingly.

On the PW stuff, I believe you can have a timeout set in the transmitter or reciever. This would be adjusted in the PW utility. For any specifics, however, you will need to contact Pocket Wizard directly. 802-658-0038 x572 or http://www.pocketwizard.com/contact/inquiry/

I would check these settings, if applicable, before reverting firmware.

Thanks
That worked. Had no idea that the MC2 had that capability. So fixed now, just turned off that option of "timed out " in the PWizard utility.
cheers
