Post subject:  Alien B800 flash problem

Hi all,

I've had my 800 for a few years now and have never had a problem with it but for some reason when I use it now the flash only will light up about the top 25% portion of my photographs and the rest of the photo is completely dark...as if the flash didn't go off at all. It works just fine when the lamp is just on and the flash isn't firing but I cannot figure out why it is doing this.

Hopefully this makes sense.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are not syncing properly with your camera. Make sure you are not exceeding your cameras flash sync speed. If your not sure what it is, you can first try shooting at 1/60 second with the AB and see if the problem goes away.

DJP is spot on. Also, beyond just camera settings, some radio remotes will also gain latency as the battery drains, so even if nothing changed, your sync may be off due to battery drain, so check or replace your batteries if you are using radio remotes.
