Post subject:  installing a grid on the med foldable softbox

I ordered & received last week grid for my medium softbox. However, the box didn't include any instructions. Can I get some help? Perhaps I just need a link to the manual or something that tells how to install.

spread out the grid and you'll see velcro around the outer edges. connect that velcro to the velcro around the inside front edge of your soft box (where the white nylon is attached). Voila!

First, double check the correct grid was recieved by looking at the box. While extremely rare, this has happened. Next, the diffuser must be recessed enought to allow the velcro available for attachment of the grid. I then typically take the top side and velcro across the top, then bottom, then sides. There is really only one way for it to go on, as it is rectangular. The velcro side would be toward the light, while the non-velcro side would be facing the subject. The grid will protrude past the end of the softbox, unlike how a reflector grid sits flush or a little recessed.

So the grid goes outside of the diffuser? ie the last thing?

Yes - put the grid on the outside of the front diffusion screen. In order for the grid to do its job properly it needs to be the last thing the light passes through before leaving the modifier.

So you are saying the grid extends past the edge of the soft box?
I purchased a larger sb and the only way I can install it is if it sticks out past the soft box.

As posted in the other thread, our grids will protrude past the front edge. This is normal, and does not impede the function of the grid or softbox.
